Mazie Irene Hollander, age 89, of 807 West Taylor Ave., Fairfield, died at 1:30 A.M. Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the Nelson Nursing Home.

She was born June 6, 1915 at Germanville, the daughter of Fred and Celestine Engel Messer.

A lifetime resident of Jefferson County, she graduated from Fairfield High School in 1932. Mazie married Mervin J. Hollander on October 14, 1937 at her parents home east of Fairfield. She was a farm wife, but prior to her marriage she delivered milk from the Messer family dairy to town.

Mazie was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Dorcas Circle, the Good Cheer Society, the Merry Makers club and the Jolly Neighbors club.

Deceased family members include her husband who died October 31, 1980, their son Roger and 2 sons-in-law Richard Lyons and Richard Robinson.

Surviving are her 2 daughters Norma Robinson of Fairfield and Linda Peterson and husband Mark of Moline, Illinois, 6 grandchildren Laura Curran, Rick Robinson, Beth Schoenrock, Robert Lyons, Roger Lyons and Randy Lyons plus 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established to the First Lutheran Church and to the Van fund at Nelson Nursing Home.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
