J. H. ATKINSON DIED SUNDAY
Well Known Fairfield Man Passed Away Early Sunday Morning.

JOHN H. ATKINSON, a well known traveling salesman of this city, died Sunday morning about six o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry P. THORNE on East Burlington street. Mr. ATKINSON had been in poor health for several months past but relatives and friends had never regarded his condition as serious until the past few weeks. His death was due to Bright's disease and a complication of diseases.

Mr. ATKINSON was born in Bridgeport, Ohio, on March 19, 1851, and grew to young manhood there. Coming to Iowa he located in Jewell Junction and later resided for a time in Webster City and Brighton. Coming to Fairfield he was married to Miss Lucy H. BECK in 1872. This city has been the home of the family since that time. Three children Mrs. M. O. LLEWELLYN of LasCruses (sic), New Mexico; Mrs. Harry P. THORNE, of this city, and Charles A. ATKINSON of Eaton, Colo., with their mother survive.

About fourteen years ago Mr. ATKINSON accepted a position as traveling salesman with the Louden Machinery Company of this city with territory in Illinois and Iowa. He severed his connection with this firm only a few days ago when he realized that his days of working were over.

Mr. ATKINSON was a member of Clinton lodge No. 15, A. F. & A. M. of this city, also of Forest City lodge No. 37 Knights of Pythias and of Fairfield Camp No. 246 Modern Woodman (sic - Woodmen) of America. He was known as a man of excellent business ability and was popular among associates.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the THORNE home, Rev. A. G. Graves, pastor of the congregational church will have charge of the services. The interrment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

John ATKINSON Dead.

John H. ATKINSON died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry THORNE, early Sabbath morning after several months' illness with Bright's disease. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Graves. Mr. ATKINSON was born in Ohio in 1851 and came to Iowa when a young man. He was married to Miss Lucy BECK in 1872 and since that time their home has been in Fairfield. Besides his wife Mr. ATKINSON is survived by three children; Charles of Eaton, Colo., Mrs. M. O. LLEWELLYN of New Mexico, and Mrs. Harry THORNE of this city. For fourteen years Mt. ATKINSON had been traveling salesman for the Louden Machinery Co. and only resigned a short time ago.
