Dorothy Marie MIDDLEKOOP was born at home in Salina, IA on August 28, 1931 to Carl and Maude KRUMBOLTZ ANDERSON. She attended Fairfield High School, graduating with the class of 1949. Upon graduation she attended Des Moines Methodist School of Nursing. On April 25, 1953 in Salina, IA Dorothy was united in marriage to John MIDDLEKOOP Jr. Together they became the proud parents to three children: Tom, Trudy, and Sue. Dorothy assumed the role of wife, mother, and homemaker. She cared for the house and family, as well as helping with the day to day duties of farm life. From an early age, Dorothy had a love for music. She was skilled at both the organ and the piano, and shared her talents at the Peoples Church of Batavia for over 20 years. Dorothy and Junior provided a loving home for their family, instilling the values of honesty and hard work. With Junior's passing in April of 2004, Dorothy found solace in traveling with the Heritage Travel Group and her involvement in the Fairfield Women's Club. She took many trips to places near and far and met wonderful friends along the way. She also took comfort in caring for her large garden and plants. She enjoyed word finds and embroidery, but above all she loved her family. Dorothy had a special place in the hearts of those she left behind and her memories and legacy will not soon be forgotten.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John MIDDLEKOOP Jr.; five brothers, Merlyn, Wilbur, Gerald, William, and Larence ANDERSON, and one sister, Marjorie RUSSELL.

Left to share her story are her children, Tom MIDDLEKOOP of Batavia, IA, Trudy (Ed) OLIVER of Batavia, IA, and Sue (Dennis Clark) MIDDLEKOOP of Birmingham, IA; two grandchildren, LIndsey (Greg) JANSMA of Norwalk, IA and Lauren (Matti) OLIVER-PRICE of West Des Moines; two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kooper JANSMA, as well as many extended family and friends.
