Olds, IA

David L. BALE, 73, of Olds, IA, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Visitation will begin after 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery (note: in Henry Co., IA). Gifts of love and friendship may be given to American Diabetes Association. Note: The Olson~Powell website has a more extensive obituary online for David, which notes that he was born May 7, 1954, the son of Willis and Doris TOLLEY BALE. He graduated in 1972 from Galesburg High School, obtained an Associate's degree in Business from Carl Sandburg College, and served in the United States Army during peacetime in Germany. He married Karilyn J. HOENIG TITUS in Kirkwood, IL, in 1985. He was a bookkeeper before starting his own accounting firm in Burlington, IA, and recently had worked for Taft Plumbing and Heating in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, liked music and computers, was involved with Samaritan's Purse, and was a bicycle enthusiast who had twice ridden RAGBRAI. David is survived by wife Karilyn, daughters Jennetta TITUS and Jason COX, son Shawn, his mother Doris, sisters Linda FRANCKOWIAK and Frances BALE, and brother Charles; also by eight grandchildren: Markus, Clayton, Elijah, Zak, Caiden, Zoe, Karilyn and Claire.
