Shortly after graduation, Bud was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Rosella DOWNEY. The two were married at the Fairfield Methodist Chapel in Fairfield, IA. Not long after they were married Bud joined the United States Air Force where he served proudly until his Honorable Discharge in November of 1961. Upon returning from the service he applied for a position with the Fairfield Police Department. He was hired, beginning a 20-year career in law enforcement. During this time, he served twice as the Fairfield Police Chief. Just as he had proudly served his country, he also proudly served his community. After his retirement from the force he took time to step back and enjoy fishing, playing pool, and taking cruises with Rosella. Bud was not only dedicated to his country and his community, but also his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
