Kicked by a Horse.

Charles H. DIXON, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore DIXON, whose home is in the northeast part of the city, was kicked by a horse Wednesday morning, and will probably die from the effects of his injuries. Dr. Fordyce, who was first called to see him, and Dr. Campbell, who is treating him now, give little hope of his recovery. During the storm of that morning, probably about 9 o'clock, DIXON went to the barn to close the doors. He had to pass behind the horses in doing his work, and one of the animals kicked at him and planted both feet on the pit of his stomach. The blow rendered him unconscious and he lay on the barn floor until early noon, when a younger brother discovered him. He has not suffered much pain, but has had such violent hemorrhages from stomach and bowels as to indicate serious internal injuries.

Young DIXON died Monday morning about 9:30. He never wholly regained consciousness during his illness, although at times he was quite rational. Deceased was seventeen years of age in June. He was born in this county, and most of his life had been spent here and in Blackhawk township. He was a bright, honest, companionable boy, and bore the good will and esteem of all who knew him. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon, services being held at the family residence. Rev. E. L. Schreiner had charge of the exercises, and the remains were carried to the grave by members of the Sunday school class to which the young man belonged.

Death of Charles DIXON.

A sad accident occurred Wednesday of last week in this city, by which a young man lost his life. The victim was Charlie DIXON, the son of Theodore DIXON, long a resident of Blackhawk township, this county, but now a resident in the northern part of this city. During the morning of that day, in passing behind a horse in the barn, the animal kicked him in the stomach with both feet, rendering him unconscious. He lay on the floor of the barn for several hours before being discovered by his younger brother. The injuries were of an internal nature and that they were very serious was shown by his continued hemorrhages of blood. Monday morning he died, having at no time fully regained consciousness. The young man is highly spoken of by all who knew him, and his untimely death is a sad grief to his devoted parents. The funeral took place at the house Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E. L. Schreiner officiating.
