Donald LaVerne SIMONS, 83, of Fairfield, IA passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Sunny Brook Living Care Center in Fairfield, IA. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield with Lee Dimmitt officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017 beginning at noon with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield (Formerly Raymond Funeral Home). Memorials in Donald's honor may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or to the family. Friends may sign the online guestbook at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com . Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield is in care of arrangements for 83 year old, Donald SIMONS.

Donald LaVerne SIMONS, 83, of Fairfield, IA passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Sunny Brook Living Care Center in Fairfield, IA. Donald LaVerne SIMONS was born March 20, 1934 in Fairfield, IA to Frank and Margery "MALIN" SIMONS. Donald grew up in Fairfield where he met and fell in love with Francis Kae ANGSTEAD. The two were united in marriage on August 24, 1952 in Fairfield. Together they became loving parents to seven children. Donald was a hard worker who always provided for his family. He worked at American Chain and Cable until its closing and then began working maintenance for the Jefferson County Hospital until his retirement in March of 1999. When Donald found some free time, he enjoyed fishing and wood working. He always made time to attend and support his grandchildren in their sporting events. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles, Tom, and Harold SIMONS; five sisters, Mildred, Helen, Mary, Myrtle, and Lois, as well as one great granddaughter, Shea EDWARDS.

Left to share his story is his loving wife Kae SIMONS, of Fairfield, IA; two sons, Tim (Fran) SIMONS of Fairfield, IA and Terry (Donna) SIMONS of West Point, IA; five daughters, Twyla SIMONS of West Des Moines, IA, Trina (Randy) HALL of Pearland, TX, Thelma (Lee) DIMMITT of Fairfield, IA, Teresa (Gary) RODGERS of Fairfield, IA, and Traci WAUGH of Fairfield, IA; one brother, Kenneth SIMONS of Fairfield, IA, as well as 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
