Robert L. KISTLER, 92 of Fairfield, died Sunday evening, June 4, 2017, at Donnellson Care Center in Donnellson (note: in Lee Co., IA).

Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Robert Leo KISTLER

Robert Leo KISTLER, 92, of Fairfield, died Sunday evening, June 4, 2017, at Donnellson Health Center in Donnellson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with the Rev. Dianne Brokken officiating. Interment, with military honors by the Henry County Honor Guard, will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to Take Away Hunger or First Christian Church.

Mr. KISTLER was born March 4, 1925 at Rich Hill, Missouri, to Walter and Mary DAGGETT KISTLER. He married Dorothy E. CHRISTENSEN Aug. 24, 1947, at Creston. She died June 23, 2006. He married Martha ANDERSON May 24, 2008, in Fairfield.

Mr. KISTLER grew up in Osceola, where he graduated from high school. He received his bachelor degree from Simpson College and his master's degree from Drake University.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a school teacher, school administrator and principal serving at Pleasant Plain School, and Lincoln and Pence elementary schools in Fairfield.

Mr. KISTLER served in the Iowa House of Representatives for six years.

Survivors include: his wife Martha KISTLER of Mt. Pleasant; daughter Belinda (James) KERNAGHAN of Fort Collins, Colorado; sons Bob (Barbara) KISTLER of Fairfield, Mark (Monica) KISTLER of Coralville; stepchildren Tom McNEVIN of Highland Branch, Colorado, Peggy (Harlan) MILLER and Scott McNEVIN of Mt. Pleasant, and Judith (Brian) CRITTENDEN of Butler, Kentucky; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and 14 great-stepgrandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
