Services Saturday For Mrs. BRAMMER (sic - BRAWNER)

Graveside services will be held here Saturday for Mrs. Laura BRAWNER, former resident of Fairfield who died in Fort Madison last night. She had made her home in fort Madison for the past several years.

The body will arrive in Fairfield Saturday and the services will be at 3 p.m. in Evergreen cemetery.

While living in Fairfield, Mrs. BRAWNER was the former Mrs. James DeSPAIN. She re-married after moving to Fort Madison. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence YOUNT (sic - YOUNK), who also resides in Fort Madison.

The message was received here this morning by Harry KNAUSS, 701 S. Fifth St., who is a nephew of Mrs. BRAWNER. She has several other relatives living in this community.

Admin Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.116, with no gravestone. She appears to have been married three or four times. The Jefferson County Marriage record for Laura and James DESPAIN notes that it's her second marriage, with her first married name being HOBSON. James died in 1919, and about that time Laura moved to Fort Madison; her death certificate in 1947 notes she has lived in Fort Madison for 33 years. While her obituary notes her name at death was BRAWNER, her death certificate is under the name of GRANER (a mis-pronunciation of the same name?). The death certificate of Charles William GRANER, to whom Laura was married, appears to be her third husband; he is noted as the husband of Laura DeSPAIN at his death in January, 1936; his obituary notes they were married July 2, 1925.
