Frances R. STEWART, 84, died today, Friday, April 14, 2017, at Jefferson County Health Center.

Behner Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.

Frances STEWART

Frances STEWART, age 84 of Fairfield, died Friday, April 14, 2017, at Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation for family & friends will be 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Behner Funeral Home with Steve Pfeifer officiating.

Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington, Iowa (note: in Washington Co., IA).

Memorials can be made to the Family or the American Cancer Society. Cards and memorials can be mailed to: Russell BJORK, 1899 Hwy 1 North, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Frances was born June 24, 1932 to Arthur and Mirthel (GONDER) BJORK in Pleasant Plain, Iowa. She married Carroll COPELAND on July 27, 1949, and they later divorced. On October 26, 1973, Frances married James STEWART. He passed away on January 11, 1996.

Frances graduated from Pleasant Plain High School. She worked in the recorder's office in the Johnson County Courthouse and NCS as a data entry person before she retired in 1983. Frances like to follow the Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball team. She liked to spend time outside working in her flower garden, fishing, camping and watching birds.

Some of Frances other interests were doing puzzles, watching stock car racing, NASCAR, woodworking, embroidery, crochet and traveling.

Frances is survived by her five children, Duane (Linda) COPELAND of Fairfield, Diane (Randy Mauck) GERLEMEN of Memphis, Missouri, Deborah (Leslie) WATKINS of Memphis, Missouri, Dwight (Anna) COPELAND of Fairfield, and Delmar (Candace) COPELAND of Iowa City, Iowa; special friend, Danny Campbell of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; one brother, Russell BJORK of Fairfield; one sister, Irene CROW of Fairfield; and nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mirthel BJORK, and her husband James.
