Cheryl Lee PARMELEE, 76, of Keosauqua, died at 12:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Cheryl Lee PARMELEE

Cheryl Lee PARMELEE, 76, of Keosauqua and formerly of Cantril, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Joseph Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery, west of Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation with family will be 10-11 a.m. prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Snack in a Sack program can be left at the funeral home or mailed to 209 W. North St., Cantril 52542.

Ms. PARMELEE was born Feb. 23, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, to Lee J. and Verda L. WHITCANACK PARMELEE.

She grew up in California, graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1958, attended several colleges and graduated from San Francisco State University in 1963 with a degree in sociology.

She spent many years in Bakersfield working as a secretary for an insurance company before moving to Iowa to take care of her mother.

Ms. PARMELEE spent her adult life as a caretaker. She worked for many years in the office of Frist Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, but she attended Cantril United Methodist when she could not make it to church services in Fairfield.

Ms. PARMELEE was a member of Cantril Grass Roots Organization, sang in the church choir and was soloist for numerous events and churches.

Her pastimes included traveling, feeding birds, working at the Haunted Trail in Cantril, shopping and helping others.

Survivors include: brother, Ronald PERMELEE of Bastrop, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
