Richard Donald HOLLANDER passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24th after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Martha (PARRISH) HOLLANDER. He farmed there with his family until 1973. He owned and operated a farm machinery dealership in Estherville, Iowa before moving to Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1980. He resided there until his death.
Dick, as he was known, served in the National Guard. He was honored as the State of Iowa's Outstanding Young Farmer. He was a Potentate's Escort for the Shriners. He was a Mason. He retired from Green River Ford / New Holland in Bowling Green, and worked at Lowe's in Glasgow, Kentucky during his retirement.
Dick is survived by his wife, Mary (KELLEY) HUFFMAN-HOLLANDER, a brother, James (LaVona) HOLLANDER, of Winterset (formerly of Fairfield), Iowa, an aunt, Ada KELLER, of Fairfield, Iowa, three children, Greg (Holly) HOLLANDER, of Glasgow, Kentucky, Ann (Wally) HANSON-HOBOT, of Andover, Minesota, and Carol Sue (Tom) BRADY, of Prior Lake, Minnesota. Dick had two step-children, David (Lynn) HUFFMAN, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Laura (Michael) FEVOLD, of Bowling Green. He had twelve grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Dick was of the Baptist faith. He will be cremated, with a private family service to be held at J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel in Bowling Green on Saturday, January 28th at 1:00 p.m. There will be a private graveside service in Fairfield, Iowa, to be held on a future date.
