Clifford Durve Manning, 78, of Bonaparte died at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Larry Wallingford officiating. Burial with military honors will be in McDowell Cemetery southeast of Richland.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials to American Cancer Society or McDowell Cemetery can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 29, Bonaparte 52620.

Mr. Manning was born Jan. 8, 1926, at Merrimac, south of Wayland, the son of Charles W. and Mabel Norton Manning. He married Iola Haynes Ridgeway Sept. 11, 1954, near Cantril. She died Feb. 13, 2004.

He was reared in Henry County. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Manning was employed for many years in maintenance at Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute.

Survivors include one stepson, Charles Ridgeway and wife Vickie of Porterville, Calif.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Rex Manning of Bonaparte; and one sister, Josephine Turner of Farmington.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donald, Walter and Wade Manning; and one sister, Jessie Scabery.
