Robert A. McCARTY Jr., 37, of Birmingham, died at 5:55 a.m. Monday, Sept, 19, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from injuries sustained in a car accident (note: in Johnson Co., IA).
The funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Larry Shipley officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the service.
Visitation with family will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 28321 Route J40, Keosauqua 52565.
Mr. McCARTY was born Feb. 21, 1979, the son of Robert Sr. and Dovie SHUFFLER McCARTY. He married Ricki BOYD April of 1998 in Farmington; they later divorced. He married Rachael COUNTS Jan. 29, 2005, in Stockport.
Mr. McCARTY grew up in and spent all of his adult life in Van Buren County.
He attended Harmony schools.
He had been a member of the Eagles Club in Fairfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and being a mechanic.
Survivors include: his parents; wife, Rachael McCARTY of Hillsboro; two sons, Clinton McCARTY of Farmington and Austin McCARTY of Farmington; three brothers, Rick McCARTY of Fairfield, Richard McCARTY of Richland and Renny McCARTY of Selma; two step-sons, Dakota HAYNES of Hillsboro and Deven KITE of Cedar Rapids; three grandmothers, Dorothy COOK of Libertyville, Linda McCARTY of Bonaparte and Vel BRERETON of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by: three grandfathers, Richard McCARTY, Lloyd BRERETON and Clarence COOK.
