Robert 'Bob' C. PATTISON

Robert "Bob" C. PATTISON, 85, of Coralville, Iowa, died on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Windmill Manor, Coralville (note: in Johnson Co., IA). Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids (note: in Linn Co., IA).

Survivors include his wife, Barbara PATTISON; children, David (Ann) PATTISON of Cedar Rapids, Cheryl (Stan) PATTISON RIDGEWAY of Iowa City; grandchildren, William (Irina) PATTISON of Morristown, New Jersey, Emily (Shane PAUSTIAN) PATTISON of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Ashtin BRYDE) PATTISON of Kansas City, Kansas, Michael PATTISON of Storm Lake, Nicole (Eric) RIDGEWAY PERSHING of Liberty, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Leah and Ashlynn PERSHING of Liberty, Missouri; sisters, Donna (Dick) WALLARAB of Coralville, and Helen HAMMOND of Saint Peters, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale ABBEY of Santa Clara, California, and Richard "Dick" PATTISON of Monona, Iowa.

Bob was born on March 7, 1931, in Fairfield, Iowa, son of Paul and Pearl PATTISON. He graduated from Fairfield High School and received his degree at Simpson College and Garrett Theological Seminary. He married Barbara PATTISON in Wellman, Iowa in 1953. Bob was a lifelong seeker of truth, first through philosophy and religion and later in life through science -- in particular the wonders of the universe. While serving as a Methodist minister in the 1960s, he worked hard for civil rights and racial equality, touching many lives along the way. Bob enjoyed varied interests in life, including fishing, golfing, and a good laugh. He loved his family deeply and was loved by them in return. He will be missed.
