Edgar E. Winslow, 68, well known farmer and carpenter, passed away about 4:00 a. m. today at the Jefferson county hospital where he had been a patient the past few days. He had been seriously ill for about a month.
Last rites will be Sunday at 2:00 p. m. at the Presbyterian church in Birmingham with Rev. H. C. Irvine officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The body will remain at the Weston Behner funeral home until Sunday noon just before the services.
Edgar E. Winslow was born October 26, 1879 at Salem, Iowa, the son of the late Jordan and Sarah Cook Winslow. He came to this community when a small boy.
He was united in marriage October 14, 1897, to Sadie Troette. The marriage took place in Fairfield. Mrs. Winslow preceded her husband in death September 28, 1947.
Mr. Winslow spent nearly his entire life on farms between Fairfield and Birmingham and was well known in both communities.
He is survived by four daughters; Mrs. Vena Speer, Rock Island, Illinois; Mrs. Faye Power, Palisade, Colorado; Mrs. Mildred Ireland, Moline, Illinois; and Louise Winslow, Fairfield; three sons, Arthur, Eugene and Ned, all of Fairfield. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Eva Scott, Des Moines, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
