Ruth Esther Edwards, 93, of 3000 W. Madison Ave., died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral was held at today at Stockport Christian Church, with the Rev. Ellis Beeman and the Rev. Ted Morelock officiating. Burial was in Spencer Cemetery in Stockport.

Memorials can be made to Spencer Cemetery or Stockport Christian Church.

Behner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edwards was born June 17, 1911, in Trivoli, Ill., the daughter of James Milton and Pearl Bowton Boone. She married Dale Franklin Edwards Dec. 18, 1929, in Fairfield. He died Oct. 11, 1990.

She lived most of her life in rural Stockport. She graduated from Stockport High School and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of Stockport Christian Church.

Survivors include two children, Maynard Edwards and wife Carolyn of Stockport and Carol Sue Polito and husband James of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Freda Fleming and Marjorie Boone.
