Cleo C. Thomas, 78, of Milton died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with David Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Open visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to Milton American Legion avenue of flags may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 23976 Amber Ave., Milton 52570.

Mr. Thomas was born April 28, 1926, near Mount Sterling, the son of Herbert and Edna Alexander Thomas. Each of his marriages to Eileen Roby, Laura Lunsford and Nancy Phillips ended in divorce. He married Maxine Osing Davidson Aug. 21, 1975, in Memphis, Mo.

He farmed in the Milton area and was employed as a heavy equipment operator by McConnell Construction Co.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dean Thomas and wife Debbie of Laurel Hill, Fla., and Steven Thomas and wife Brenda of Milton; two daughters, Nancy Jean Schweiger of Green Valley, Ariz., and Teresa Toops and husband David of Terrell, Texas; one stepdaughter, Joyce Carey and husband Leroy of Birmingham; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Thomas of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
