Lois Arlene SHIELDS

Lois Arlene SHIELDS, 86, of Arlington, Texas, and formerly of Fairfield, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, in her home surrounded by family and friends.

The body has been cremated, and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. Online condolences can be left at behnerfh.com.

Behner Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. SHIELDS was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Ray LANSMAN and Beryl LYNN LANSMAN. She married Everett SHIELDS Aug. 2, 1944.

The SHIELDSes lived all their 65 years of married life in the Fairfield area.

Mrs. SHIELDS owned and operated Helen's Fashions until her retirement in 1988. She was active in the Fairfield community. She was a member of First Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She also was a member of Fairfield Women's Club, Business and Professional Women and Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

She was an avid gardener and loved to play bridge and bingo.

Survivors include: one son, Ron SHIELDS and wife Deb of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Connie CANNOLES and husband Gordon of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Everett SHIELDS; and one brother, Lynn LANSMAN.

Lois Arlene SHIELDS, 86, formerly of Fairfield, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, surrounded by family and friends at her home in Arlington, Texas.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Todd Holman officiating. Burial of cremains will be at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Cemetery, east of Fairfield on Highway 34.

Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church of Fairfield.
