Loreta Kay LITTON

Loreta Kay LITTON, 69, of Iowa City and formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at Windmill Manor in Coralville, following a short illness.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with the Rev. Rick Hughes officiating. Interment will be at Glasgow Cemetery in rural Fairfield.

Visitation began at noon today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials have been established for Salem Church of God in rural Ainsworth. Online condolences can be sent through the website at www.jonesfh.com.

Mrs. LITTON was born May 26, 1945, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Willie and Olive COON MURPHY. She married Robert E. LITTON Aug. 30, 1968, in North Liberty.

She was raised on a farm northeast of Ainsworth and moved to Washington, Iowa, with her family in 1960. She attended Albaugh Country School in Washington County and Ainsworth Community Schools until her sophomore year. She attended Washington High School for two years, graduating in 1963.

Mrs. LITTON was a member of the Salem Church of God.

She worked at McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory in Washington, Iowa; Mull Grocery Wholesale in Muscatine and AVCO Finance in Oskaloosa. She was employed at the University of Iowa opthamology (sic - ophthalmology) department from 1966 until 1968 and at the College of Education Counseling, Rehabilitation and Student Development Department from 1968 until her retirement in 2010.

She was an avid car racing fan, and she enjoyed traveling with her husband to attend the races.

Survivors include: her husband, Robert LITTON of Iowa City; half brother, William "Bill" LEWIS of Lone Tree.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her half sister Lucille FRAME.
