Dorothy May Wood, 85, of Mission, Texas, and formerly of Fairfield died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ellis Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

Mrs. Wood was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Kirkwood, Ill., the daughter of James and Emma May Garrett Winters. She married F. Edward "Woody" Wood June 23, 1953, in Kahoka, Mo. He died May 7, 1999.

Mrs. and Mr. Wood co-owned Woody's Cafeteria and Steak House in Fairfield. They were in the restaurant business for 45 years in the Fairfield community.

Mrs. Wood lived in the Fairfield community for more than 25 years.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Fairfield.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Cyrus Winters, Craig Winters, Jim Winters and Howard Winters; four sisters, Sally Carlson, Jeanette Nelson, Pearl Riedel and Lorraine Moorman. She was the last of her family of nine.
