HE WAS A PIONEER.

Peter LAMANSKY died at the home of his son, N. T. LAMANSKY, near Glendale, the 31st ult. He was born in Poland in 1825, married in that country to Miss Anna SERGOT in 1850, and the young people came to America the same year. After a residence of three years in Pennsylvania, they purchased a farm in Walnut township, this county, where they lived until the death of his wife in 1894. He then lived in Germanville for several years, but since his health began to fail has made his home with his children. He was the father of seven children, five of whom are living -- John, Peter, Louis and N.T. LAMANSKY of this county and Mrs. James COWEN of Oskaloosa. Mr. LAMANSKY was the pioneer Polish settler of Jefferson County, the first to make his home here and the oldest among the early comers. He was an honest, upright man, always doing to the best of his ability for his fellows. He died as he had lived, a faithful Catholic. Funeral services were held at St. Peter's and St. Paul's church in Walnut township Saturday morning, and the body was interred in the Germanville cemetery.
