Elizabeth Henrietta HELFENSTINE, born March 23, 1917, passed away June 25, 2014, in Tucson, Arizona.
Born to Clarence and Florence BATES in Fairfield, Iowa. Graduated from Fairfield High School.
Married to James Bert HELFENSTINE on February 27, 1939. They had two daughters, Judi and Sandee.
Resided in Lockridge, Iowa, until 1958, moved to Oakridge, Oregon. Left there in 1970 to follow Bert's work, which was construction. They finally settled in Peoria, Arizona.
They lived in Casa del Sol Mobile Home Park for over 40 years. Henrietta received an award for being the longest to live there and the oldest!
Henrietta was a homemaker, but also a "Jill of all trades." In Lockridge, she worked at Prouty's Print Shop, in Fairfield at Universal Producing Company. In Oakridge, she worked for a bicycle shop and managed the bowling alley. In Peoria, she detailed and helped decorate the model homes in the mobile home park. In later years, she handled rentals and looked after homes while owners were on vacation.
She was always in motion and looking after everyone else. She slowed down at age 95, as she had to go on oxygen. She eventually moved to Assisted Living in Tucson to be near her daughter, Sandee, and son-in-law, Bud.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bernice HIRD, daughter Judi PADDOCK and grandson Lance LONG.
Survived by daughter and "son" Sandee and Bud ANDERSON. Grandchildren: Shellie ANDERSON, Tiffany and Jeff BURGESS, Darrell LONG (Lisa), Duane LONG. Great-grandchildren: Heather LONG, Jordan, Ella and Sophie BURGESS and Anna LONG. Great-great-grandson: Aaron FORTNER. Nieces and nephews: Jerry HIRD, Mike and Barbara HIRD, Dianne GWYNN, Kathy and Steve SMITH, Randy KELLER, Harlene HAMMETT and Sharon NORTON.
