Glen Orvil REESER Jr.

Glen Orvil REESER Jr. of Palatine, Illinois, and formerly of Fairfield died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014.

A service of remembrance is planned for 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Alghrim Family Funeral Home in Palatine, Illinois. Services also are planned at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, with interment to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation will be 4 p.m. until the 8 p.m. service of remembrance Wednesday at the funeral home, then again from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Glen Reeser Arts Fund at the Harper College Educational Foundation, 1200 Algonquin Road, Palatine, IL 60067.

Mr. REESER was born Feb. 4, 1953, in Denison, the son of Glen REESER Sr. and Leona KREMIN REESER MACK. In 1975, he wed college classmate Martha BELL of Fairfield.

After graduating with a degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University, he began his professional career in 1976 with a position at Motorola Inc. in Schaumburg, Illinois. His early career focused on designing emergency radio equipment to transmit medical data from ambulances to emergency room doctors, which at the time was adopted as the standard across the country. Mid-career, he undertook two overseas assignments with Motorola in Taunusstein, Germany, and in Malahide, Ireland. In the latter part of his career, he designed electronic components, garnering 26 U.S. patents for his innovative and creative work. The Motorola components division was sold to CTS Corporation, a manufacturer of components where Mr. REESER worked for an additional 13 years before retiring as a senior technical engineer in 2011.

In the last two decades of his life, Mr. REESER was devoted to artistic pursuits, including metalworking and ceramics. In 2013, he was honored with a one-man ceramics exhibition at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. He was a long-time participant in the ceramics program at Harper College in Palatine. In June, the ceramics studio at Harper College was dedicated as the Glen O. Reeser Ceramics Studio.

He and his wife hosted many international exchange students through Rotary International and privately.

Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Jean LANCE of Dow City and Mary Jo PETER of Charter Oak.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jackie BUKACEK.

Glen Orvil REESER Jr. of Palatine, Illinois, whose obituary was printed Tuesday in The Fairfield Ledger, was not a former resident of Fairfield. He married Martha BELL of Fairfield, daughter of Dorothy BELL and the late Dr. Jay BELL.

The local visitation will be 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service of remembrance Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.

Behner Funeral Home is assisting the family locally.
