Mada GRIFFIN, 87, of Fairfield died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mada Irene GRIFFIN

Mada Irene GRIFFIN, 88, of Fairfield, died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A celebration of life is planned noon to 4 p.m. Saturdy (sic) at the Fairfield VFW. Cremains will be buried at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be given to the family. Cards and memorials can be sent to Randy POOL, 908 W. Grimes Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Behner Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.

Mrs. GRIFFIN was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Stockport, the daughter of Thomas J. and Issie Pearl PECK GIBERSON. She married Conrad POOL in March 1947. They later divorced. She married Raymond GRIFFIN Sept. 25, 1974, and they also divorced.

She attended Van Buren Community Schools.

She worked at J&B Plastics and Fairfield Golf & Country Club.

She loved to spend time with her family and her cat. She had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories about her life. In her younger years, she traveled and had a special love of the mountains.

Survivors include: two sons, Ronald POOL and Randall POOL and wife Roenna, all of Fairfield; one daughter, Joyce SCHAAPPVELD and husband Les of Lone Tree; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; one brother; one son, Thomas POOL; and one great-great-granddaughter.
