Kathleen RODIBAUGH BOGNER, 99, died Monday, July 14, 2014, in Chicago.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date at First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge.
Memorial gifts can be made to First Augustana Lutheran Church.
Mrs. BOGNER was born March 22, 1915, near Libertyville, the daughter of Ray and Mable STEVER RODIBAUGH. She married Everett H. BOGNER in 1940.
She graduated from Libertyville High School. After graduation, she earned a teaching certificate from Parsons College and started teaching school in 1933 in a rural school near Lockridge.
After her sons started school, she returned to teaching at rural schools in Lockridge and Glasgow, then, after the school consolidations, she taught school for many years in Fairfield.
She completed her bachelor's degree in education from Iowa Wesleyan in 1962 and continued to teach until her retirement in 1977.
She and her husband farmed near Lockridge until 1987, when they moved to Fairfield.
Mrs. BOGNER and her husband were active in First Augustana Lutheran Church. She also was active in several teaching and reading associations, including the International Reading Association.
She was an avid reader and traveler. She made many overseas trips with her husband and members of her family, including trips to Germany and Sweden to places important in family history.
She was a longtime resident of Jefferson County and had moved to Chicago in 2008 to be closer to her sons.
Survivors include: one son, Ben BOGNER and wife Jean; one daughter-in-law, Susan BOGNER; one grandson; two granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one brother, Richard RODIBAUGH; one sister, Marjorie RODIBAUGH; and one son, William BOGNER.
