Mildred BOMBEI

Mildred BOMBEI, 89, of Keota, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

A memorial graveside service is at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Cemeteries-Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery (note: in Keokuk Co., IA). A time of fellowship follows the service in the basement of Ss. Peter and Paul Church of Clear Creek Township.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Sunday, until service time, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church of Clear Creek Township.

A memorial fund has been established for the Clear Creek Heritage Association.

Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling arrangements.

Mrs. BOMBEI was born June 23, 1924, in rural Sigourney, the daughter of Elmer and Lottie AHRENS HAUSCHILD. She married Raymond BOMBEI at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He died in 2005.

She attended country school.

She and her husband lived south of Keota.

She worked at Amana Refrigeration for 32 years, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, traveling, following the Bruegge Band and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Alfretta "Babe" HAUSCHILD of What Cheer, Marie REDLILNGER (sic - REDLINGER?) of Keota, Mary Lou WALKER of Washington and Virginia BOMBEI of Sigourney; one brother-in-law, Herbert BOMBEI of Keota; and special friends, Ed and Nikki Bruegge of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roy HAUSCHILD; and one sister, Bernadine SLECHTA.
