Lois A. GARRETT

Lois A. GARRETT, 81, of rural Douds, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon, with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Iowaville Cemetery west of Selma.

Visitation opens at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with family present 5-7 p.m.

Memorials to Living Hope Bible Church or Iowaville Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 1425 265th St., Libertyville 52567.

Mrs. GARRETT was born Dec. 2, 1932, near Eldon, the daughter of Iver and Gertrude CARLSON REISCH. She married Donald E. GARRETT Nov. 21, 1951, in Eldon.

She graduated from Eldon High School.

She was a farm homemaker and worked as a telephone operator in Eldon, at Douds Café and Moore's Grocery in Douds.

The couple lived their married life in rural Selma, Libertyville and Douds.

She was a member of Selma United Methodist Church where she had served as pianist.

She also played the piano at the Selma Jam Sessions and had been a member of Selma Saddle Club and Douds Pythian Sisters.

She especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Don; two sons, Dennis GARRETT of Batavia and Tony GARRETT and spouse Cari of Floris; one daughter, Diana SWAN and spouse Gale of Libertyville; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly FINNEY of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Shirley TAYLOR; and infant sister, Betty Jean REISCH.
