Lester G. FINDLEY

Lester G. FINDLEY Jr., 86, of Keosauqua died at 12:25 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Kevin Mote officiating. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, with military honors by Russell-Strait Post No. 483 of the American Legion of Milton.

Visitation, with family present, was Sunday at the funeral home. Following the visitation, Celestial Lodge 413 A.F. & A.M. of Douds conducted Masonic services.

Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 12525 Vine Ave., Stockport 52651.

Mr. FINDLEY was born Feb. 18, 1928, in rural Milton, the son of Lester Sr. and Veneta HARGROVE FINDLEY. He married Patricia BEATTY Nov. 14, 1964, in Grinnell. She died Sept. 19, 1995.

Mr. FINDLEY lived most of his life on the family farm near Milton. He graduated from Milton High School in 1945, and spent several years in Cleveland, Okla.

He had worked on the farm, at Barker Wire in Keosauqua in the shipping department and most recently at Manatts Construction in Brooklyn, Iowa, as a truck driver.

He was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Celestial Lodge 413 A.F. & A.M., past secretary/treasurer of Iowa Polled Herefords Association and a member of Iowa Beef Breeds Council of which he served as president in 1984.

Mr. FINDLEY served in the U.S. Army with Company A, 196th Infantry at Fort Richardson, Alaska during the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict).

Survivors include: two sons, Lester FINDLEY III of Stockport and Kevin FINDLEY and wife Lisa of Katy, Texas; four grandchildren; and one sister, Nadine TRACHSEL of Milton.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Wallace ROBERTSON.
