Death Takes S.W. DURHAM

Sherman W. DURHAM, 78, resident of Fairfield community for over 30 years, died at 7:30 p.m. today at the Nelson Nursing Home where last rites are pending.

The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home where last rites are pending.

Sherman W. DURHAM was born April 21, 1895, near Kirksville, Mo., the son of Joseph and Aggie WHEELER DURHAM.

His first marriage to Alma MARCH took place in 1920. She died in 1929.

He was married Oct. 3, 1931, to Bertha OSBORN who servives (sp).

DURHAM was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion and the Pentecostal Church. The family home is on Route 4, Fairfield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children: F.E. DURHAM and Donald DURHAM, both of Arbela, Mo.; Kenneth DURHAM, California; and Mrs. Ruth REYNOLDS, also of California; along with 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include six step-children: Harry C. SEE, Melcher; Mrs. Merle ADLER, Mrs. Loretta ELDER and Mrs. Richard MICKEL, all of Fairfield; Mrs. Marvin FISHER, Rock Island; and Mrs. Myrtle JANES, Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, one daughter and one son.

Admin. note: Sherman was buried in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, with his second wife Bertha who died in 1981. He is in Lot Evergreen 17 - space 6; she is in Evergreen 16 - space 1. They share a joint headstone.
