Ted R. Shalla, 52, of rural Brighton died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at his home.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Family visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday, followed by prayers for a Christian Wake at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to St. Joseph Catholic Church and may be left at the funeral home.

Mr. Shalla was born Sept. 17, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Everett F. and Betty Jean Hoxworth Shalla.

He was reared in the Brighton area and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1969. He worked as a press operator at the McCleery-Cummings Company in Washington for more than 30 years before his health began to fail.

He had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain.

Survivors include his grandmother, Laura Neff of Washington.

His parents preceded him in death.
