Evelyn Joan HESSELTINE, 82, of Richland, died Saturday evening March 29, 2014, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
A funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of God in Brighton, with the Rev. Ryan Meader officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Washington County Hospice, Feed the Children or the VA Hospital in Iowa City can be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 1915 Jackpine Loop, Fairfield 52556.
Mrs. HESSELTINE was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Fairfield, the daughter of Earnest W. and Dorothy M. NELSON SPRAY. She married John "Jack" HESSELTINE April 8, 1950, in Salem, Iowa.
Mrs. HESSELTINE graduated from Brighton High School in 1948. She worked at the Brighton Book Bindery, the Calendar Factory in Washington, Iowa, and as a cook at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield for several years.
Mrs. HESSELTINE was a longtime member of the Friends Church and most recently attended First Church of God in Brighton.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Joy LANGE and husband Mike of Pella; two sons, Jonnie HESSELTINE and wife Nancy of Fairfield and Lonnie HESSELTINE and wife Chris of Richland; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edith DAVISSON of Sheldon, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter; one great-grandson; one sister, Carol MADDEN; and two brothers, John "Ted" SPRAY and James SPRAY.
