Stanley G. THOMSON

Stanley G. THOMSON, 91, of Mt. Pleasant died at 12:22 a.m. today, Friday, March 28, 2014 at home.

A funeral is set for 11 a.m. Monday at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, with the church pastor, Beth Bell, officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery in rural Libertyville.

Visitation, with family present, will be 10-11 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the church.

Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family can be left at the church or mailed to the family at 404 E. Becky Lane, Mt. Pleasant 52641.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is handling the arrangements.

Mr. THOMSON was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Libertyville, the son of George Ruben and Fern Margurite RINIKER THOMSON. He has been married for 50 years to Jean PARCEL.

Mr. THOMSON graduated from Libertyville High School in 1941, helped his parents on the farm and began driving trucks at age 18. He later became an over-the-road semi driver and retired from Consolidated Freightways in Peru, Ill., at the age of 62.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fairfield and had enjoyed wintering in Mission, Texas, the past 14 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Philip PARCEL of Batavia and Galen THOMSON and wife Danielle of Olds; three daughters, Leola ROMINE of Batavia, Rene MESSINO and husband Gerald of Colfax, Ill., and Miriam THOMSON of Kohoka, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
