Joyce PICKEN, 54, 1119 Meadowview Court, West Linn, Ore., 97068, formerly of Fairfield, died Monday morning, Feb. 17, 1992, at Sunnyside Hospital in Portland, Ore.
The body was cremated. No service has been planned. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. PICKEN was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Glenn and Mildred CAMPBELL. She graduated from high school in LaGrange, Ill., and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids. On June 13, 1959 she married Roger PICKEN in Des Moines. They lived in Fairfield from August 1967 until May 1988, when the moved to the Portland area. She worked for Biddle Advertising in Des Moines and as a secretary and tutor in the Fairfield Community School District. She was active in Des Moines and state Jayceettes and in Des Moines and Fairfield community theater. In Oregon, she had been a volunteer for the Washington Park Zoo at Portland, as an elementary tutor, a literacy program tutor and in a citizenship certification program for aliens. She also was bridge coordinator for the West Linn Newcomers group.
Surviving are her husband and a son, Jeff of Des Moines. Her parents preceded her in death.
