Thomas MYERS

Thomas MYERS, 59, of Eldon, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014.

He was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, on May 29, 1954, to Blanche ECHELBERRY GARRELS and was raised by her and his stepfather, Wayne HIGDON (Wheaties) in Eldon, Iowa where he resided until his passing. Tom was a hard-working and a dedicated employee. He had been employed at Rock Island Railroad, Iowa Malleable Iron Company and was currently employed at Performance Pipe for the last 15 years in Fairfield.

Tom loved life, enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, good food and cold beer was his biggest enjoyment. Tom was a caring father, grandfather, uncle and friends. He will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his daughter: Carrie MYERS (Phil BECHERT), granddaughter: Lyssa HANNAH, brothers: Wayne HIGDON, Junior GARRELS, niece: Lisa TAYLOR (Darren TAYLOR) and close friend: Duane Pauls, and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents; one sister: Barbara MOORE, and one brother: Francis GARRELS.

The family will be having a celebration of life in Tom's honor at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Tom's garage. Friends and family are welcome.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family: Carrie MYERS, 107 Selma Street, Eldon, Iowa 52554.
