Brenda Lee JOHNSON

Brenda Lee JOHNSON, age 51, of Menomonie, Wis., died Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire (sic - WI), after an aggressive, short bout with cancer.

Brenda was born October 11, 1962 in Keosauqua, Iowa, to Warren H. and Virginia Lee (WOODBURN) BOOTH. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant Iowa High School and went on to get her bachelors degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa with a major in Spanish and a minor in English.

On November 20, 1993, she married Duane JOHNSON in Mt. Pleasant and they moved to Menomonie in 1996.

Brenda worked as an administrative assistant to the principal at the middle school in Menomonie. She has been employed by the Menomonie School District for about ten years. She was very active in the schools, helping coach volleyball a couple of years, working on the year book and helping with cheerleading and the theatre every year.

She enjoyed the use of her Spanish, having attended school one year in Mexico and working in Cozumel for a summer. She and her family loved going on "vacation" in Mexico and learning about the Mexican culture. Never just the tourist areas, but going into the communities, seeing the pyramids and exploring the terrain. She was an avid reader and enjoyed many hours making crafts and going to craft shows.

Most of all, Brenda was a very "family oriented" person. She loved Christmas and spent many hours picking out the perfect ornament for each one in her family. This past summer, Brenda attained her motorcycle license and was looking forward to getting her Harley in the spring.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Duane of Menomonie, Wis.; one son, Nick (Melissa MILLER) KLOSTERMAN and La La's girl, Lacey, all of Menomonie, Wis.; mother, Virginia BOOTH of Menomonie, Wis.; one brother, Brad (Corina) BOOTH of Rolla, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Lloyd DUNCAN of Hillsboro, Iowa; very special, lifelong friends Dawn and Eric Flaatten of St. Peters, Mo.; father of their son, Timothy KLOSTERMAN of Irving, Texas; her special mini doxies, Starsky and Sadie; and a cat, Winston.

She was preceded in death by her father, Warren (12/1/77); maternal grandparents, Marjorie and Elmer WOODBURN; paternal grandparents, John and Emma BOOTH; and in-laws, Hubert and Helen JOHNSON.

A Celebration Of Life And Time Of Reflection will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at The National Guard Armory in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. All are welcome to attend in remembrance of Brenda.

Olson Funeral Home of Menomonie is serving the family.
