Dorris A. SCHRUM

Dorris A. SCHRUM, 77 formerly a resident of Logan Apartments in Fairfield, Iowa, has passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa, after a prolonged illness and valiant fight.

Dorris was born April 27, 1937 with her twin, Donna, to Mary Grace and Glen Loren McCLURE. At the age of 8, she and Donna were placed in the foster care of Lee and Jessie BYERS, also formerly from Fairfield.

She married James Carroll LUEDTKE in 1955. They had two daughters, Lee Ann OVERTURF of Norwalk, IA and Mary Jane PREISS of Moline, IL.

Years later she married Richard John SCHRUM in 1963 and raised three more children, Nicholas Richard SCHRUM, Cedar Rapids, IA; Martha Marie GOETZE, Overland Park, MO; Jennifer Jean SCHRUM-GILPIN, Denver, CO.

Dorris enjoyed embroidery, politics, reading, making fudge and was a great writer of Letters to the Editor when so moved by strong opinions.

Over the years she worked at the Jefferson County Hospital, The Sandwich Shop, and Country Kitchen in Fairfield until she became physically disabled in 1996.

She is survived by her five children; and seven grandchildren, Turiya Marie GOETZE, Overland Park, MO; Robert Michael OVERTURF, Des Moines, IA; Kevin Michael OVERTURF, Des Moines, IA; Benjamin Lee OVERTURF, Norwalk, IA; Jessica Leigh OVERTURF, Norwalk, IA; Michelle Noel PREISS, Moline, IL; and Nichole Leighann SCHRUM of Cedar Rapids, IA; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson MANNING, West Des Moines; Sophia Marie OVERTURF, Des Moines, IA.

A Remembrance Open House will be held for friends and family of Dorris at a later date.

Dorris SCHRUM

Dorris A. SCHRUM, 77, formerly of Fairfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, in Norwalk.

A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at World of Life Lutheran Church at 2092 Libertyville Road in Fairfield.

Her family invites friends and family to join them Saturday.
