Harold D. 'Buck' SAMMONS

Harold D. "Buck" SAMMONS, 62, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at home.

The body has been cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Lambirth Cemetery in rural Mount Pleasant.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will be present from 5-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the Washington County Hospice in his memory. Online condolences may be sent to the family atwww.murphyfuneralandmonuments.com. (sic)

Mr. SAMMONS was born May 17, 1951, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Merlyn E. and Erma A. PIPER SAMMONS. He married Debra STAGNER June 12, 1970, at Pleasant Hill Church in Mount Pleasant.

He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1970.

He owned and operated Sammons Auto Sales in rural Mount Pleasant for 40 years.

He was active in Salem Lions Club, Lockridge Rough Riders, Salem Recreation League serving as a coach and a board member, and Boy Scouts as a leader. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and restoring tractors and antique garden tractors.

He was involved in the Antique Garden Tractor Club of Midwest Old Threshers.

Survivors include his wife Debra; children, David SAMMONS and spouse Tracy of Mount Pleasant, Rachel LENZ and spouse Heather MOSES of Gilson, Ill., and Shelly GRABER and spouse Kendall of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren; his mother of Mount Pleasant; and one sister, Merlene WILSON of Mount Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his father; one granddaughter; and one brother, Ricky.
