Jeffrey Paul DICKINSON

Jeffrey Paul DICKINSON, 56, of Brighton, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, due to injuries from a farm accident.

A funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Visitation with the family is 4:30-8 p.m. Sunday at Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Church. Prayers for a Christian Wake begin at 8 p.m.

Memorials for St. Joseph Cemetery or for a memorial to be decided later may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1440 Hwy 1 & 78.

Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. DICKINSON was born April 14, 1957, in Fairfield to Ralph "Dubs" and Kathryn CHUCK DICKINSON. He married Paula SHAFFER Jan. 8, 1977, and they divorced. He married Sue MURPHEY Nov. 15, 1997, and they divorced.

He lived his entire life in Brighton and graduated from Washington High School in 1975.

He was a member of Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain.

Survivors include two daughters, Kelly DEMPSEY of North Liberty and Kayla HEATH and spouse Jeremy of Iowa City; four grandchildren; his parents of Brighton; two sisters, Laura KOHNERT of Urbandale and Kaye STEWART of Washington; and special friend Raquel Thomas of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Brighton man dies in farm accident

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 7:07 p.m. Thursday for a reported farm accident in the 1000 block of Violet Avenue in Brighton.

Upon sheriff deputies' arrival, it was determined Jeffrey DICKINSON of Washington County was dead at the scene.

According to the investigation, it appeared DICKINSON was loading the head of a combine on a trailer when he was pinned between the combine and the head.

Assisting the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were Brighton QRS, Midwest Ambulance and the medical examiner.
