"DEATH OF T. M. BROOKS. On Wednesday last, at his home near Brookville, this county. . . . .long a resident of Jefferson County and one of its best known citizens. Mr. Brooks was a native of Scott County, Ky., and was born Oct. 26th, 1797. . . . . .In 1804 his father's family removed to Butler County, Ohio. . . . .April 18th, 1816, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Gray, with whom he lived happily for 58 years. . . . Mr. Brooks was the father of 12 children. One of them was Joseph Brooks, at one time elected governor and a leading politician of Arkansas, who died in that state in 1877. Another son was Captain William S. Brooks, who also was killed in Arkansas during the war. Four children are now living, Mrs. Thomas Moorman, Mrs. J. A. Ireland, Mrs. Nancy G. Warwick and Mrs. Francis C. LaForce. There were also 61 grandchildren, of whom 38 are living, and 60 great-grandchildren, 47 living. . . . .His funeral occurred Friday last, the remains being interred in what is known as the Brooks cemetery. . . ."
