Death Takes Cecil BETTIS

Cecil E. BETTIS, 74, 609 W. Fillmore, died Sunday evening at the Nelson Nursing Home.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald L. Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m.

BETTIS was born June 24, 1903 in Monroe County, the son of Mr. and Mr.s (sic) Lewis BETTIS. He was married June 23, 1923 to Laura M. DOWD. She is also a resident of the Nelson Nursing Home.

A resident of Fairfield for 35 years, he was a retired plumber and a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mildred PHILIPS, Keosauqua, and Ruth POTHOVEN, St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters; Irene MANLEY, and Alfreda CROOK, both of Des Moines; Virgil BETTIS, Montague, Calif.; Fern ADAMS, Corwith; Ralph BETTIS, Leon; Leonard BETTIS, Albia; Clifford BETTIS, Webster, Wis.; and Lillian FRANZ, Colfax.

The family of Cecil BETTIS wishes to thank the Jefferson County Hospital staff, Dr. Watson, and also the staff at Parkview Care Center and Nelson Nursing Home for the wonderful care of our loved one. The cards, memorials, flowers, food, and donations are also much appreciated.
