J. Dean Hervey, 93, of Cantril died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cantril Christian Church, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery, southeast of Keosauqua.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the family present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to Cantril Grass Roots may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 219, Cantril 52542.

Mr. Hervey was born Sept. 12, 1910, near Mount Sterling, the son of James and Meribah May Parson Hervey. He married E. Isabelle Shriver June 25, 1933, in Mount Sterling. She died March 13, 1994.

Mr. Hervey spent his life farming in the Mount Sterling and Cantril areas.

He was a member of Cantril Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Wayne Hervey of Cantril; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Opal Sparks, Creola Beggs and Bernice Regur.
