Mrs. BATES Dies In California

PACKWOOD - Mrs. J.F. Wallace, Packwood, has received word of the death of Mrs. Vira D. BATES, 77, Fresno, Calif., who passed away suddenly April 23. She had been in failing health the past 3 1/2 years.

Mrs. BATES was the former Vira D. VALENTINE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe VALENTINE, former well-known resident of Fairfield.

Mrs. BATES is survived by one stepdaughter, Mrs. Garrit HAITLEY, Milbrook, Calif., and ten cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother.
