Mr. Lorenzo Dow SHERMAN who died at his home in this city, Sunday at 1 o'clock p.m., was born February 7, 1866, in Belknap, Iowa. He was educated in the common schools and was married to Miss Emma SMITH, sixteen years ago the 15th of last March. To this union was born three children, Buelah, Homer and Dale, aged 15, 8 and 5 respectively.

Mr. SHERMAN had bee a truck gardener for some years past and has been much afflicted the past three years. The most probable cause of his death was the breaking of an internal tumor.

The funeral was conducted from the residence at one o'clock this afternoon by the Rev. Alexander Corkey, pastor of the Presbyterian church, assisted by the Rev. T.E. SHERMAN, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Leroy, Minn., and brother of the deceased.

The relatives who were in attendance at the funral were: Dr. J.M. SHERMAN of Boone, Iowa: Rev. T.E. SHERMAN of LeRoy, Minn., brothers of the deceased; H.D. RIME and wife of Ottumwa, brother-in-law and sister. The four brothers of Mrs. SHERMAN, Elza, Seldon and Wilber SMITH of Ottumwa and Homer SMITH of Fairfield, her father, C.A. SMITH of Blandenburg, Iowa and an uncle, Jack SMITH of Kirksville, Iowa; Miss Elsie SHERMAN, a niece from Campton, Cal.; Miss Elnora RIME of Ottumwa, also a niece, and Henry Wagner from Ottumwa, a boyhood friend.

Mrs. SHERMAN and children have the sympathy of the entire community. When a faithful husband and loving father has been taken away, even human sympathy fails to reach the depths of the sorrow. Only the Divine Christ can minister to the deepest needs in this sad hour.
