Former Local Resident Dies

Katherine TAPPERT WILLIS, 94, died at 5:30 a.m. today in a nursing home in Tampa, Fla. She had been making her home with her niece, Louise HERR (sic - HEER?) PREECE in Tampa.

Mrs. WILLIS was born in Fairfield on Sept. 29, 1883, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius TAPPERT. She was a Parsons College graduate and also graduated at the Pratt Institute in New York City in 1911. She was the widow of Grinnell WILLIS.

Kate WILLIS had been head librarian from 1925 to 1932 in Morristown, N.J., where she and her husband made their home. Her home in Fairfield was at 293 Highland. She was a lifetime member of the American Library Association.

A memorial service will be held at the library in Morristown, N.J.

The body will be cremated and inurnment will be in Fairfield at Evergreen Cemetery with the Behner Funeral Home in charge.

No services will be held here.
