James E. GUY

James E. GUY, beloved husband of Helen GUY (nee TAYLOR); cherished father of Emily GUY-BIRKEN (Jayme BIRKEN) and Tracie (David) GUY-DECKER; adored step-father of Abbey (Buddy) GOLDMAN; dear brother of Robin GUY; dear grandfather of Ari, Ruthie, Casey and Zach, passed away on April 12, 2013, after a brief illness. GUY was 63 and had recently lived in Fairfield with his wife Helen as he served on the Cambridge Board.

GUY began his career in the financial services industry 36 years ago and his career as a financial advisor included many years with the Sun America organization. In the late 90s, he chose Cambridge as the broker-dealer for his growing branch and became one of the industry's early adopters of fee-based planning. Jim, along with Helen GUY, his partner and wife, built a very successful practice that continues today because of his dedication to planning for the long-term future of his clients.

Jim joined Cambridge's executive group about 13 years ago and served at the broker-dealer level while continuing to lead his independent practice based in Baltimore alongside Helen. In that time, Jim was a major force on the Cambridge Board of Directors and provided senior executive leadership for Cambridge's recruiting and marketing. When he joined Cambridge in its early years, the entire marketing and recruiting departments were almost non-existent, and today they employ more than 110 associates and offer industry-leading programs in diverse areas.

Cambridge is hosting a Celebration of Life -- Honoring Jim GUY on Monday, April 29, 2013, in Fairfield. Those wishing to extend their own messages honoring Jim may send cards to: Cambridge Investment Research, Inc., C/O Honoring Jim Guy, 1776 Pleasant Plain Road, Fairfield, Iowa 52556. Helen GUY has also asked that donations in Jim's honor be directed to Johns Hopkins Children's Center, One Charles Center, 100 N Charles Street, Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21201.

In addition, funeral services and interment will be at Druid Ridge Cemetery in Pikesville, MD, on April 7, 2013. Sol Levinson & Bros. Funeral Home assisted the family in MD.
