Jeannie SIMS

Jeannie SIMS, 71, of Sioux City and formerly of Packwood and Fairfield, died Sunday evening, Jan. 2, 2000, at her home.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Nelson-Burger Morningside Chapel in Sioux Cityl(sp)(.) Graveside rites will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Packwood Cemetery in Packwood with the Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating. Memorials may be made to Sioux City New Church Start Fund, P.O. Box 1322, Sioux City 51102. Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. SIMS was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Fairfield, the daughter of Elizah Abner and Mathilda "Jessie" OLSON HEALD. She married Eugene SIMS Aug. 19, 1951, in Fairfield. he died July 30, 1997.

She grew up in Packwood and attended Packwood school. She graduated from Packwood High School.

She and her husband lived in Fairfield until 1963, when he transferred with the Iowa Highway Patrol to Sioux City.

She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Rose Croix Chapter No. 400 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was mother adviser and Grand Deputy of the Order of the Rainbow and a member of the Sioux City Lioness Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Marsha COWAN of Overland Park, Kan., and Nancy HUTCHISON of Council Bluffs; three grandchilren; and one sister, Bettye SMALL of Libertyville.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. HEALD.
