Leonard Arthur ORNDUFF, 81, of Parkview Care Center died at 10:17 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the center.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home at Fairfield with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery at Batavia. Visitation with the family present will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association.
The son of Fred Estes and Cora May McNIEL ORNDUFF, he was born in Wapello County on Sept. 15, 1918. He married Frances Eleanor GOBBLE on May 23, 1937, in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Ornduff graduated from Batavia High School in 1935. He was employed by Clint Fischel from 1946-1954, then established C&O Motors in 1954 and operated it until he sold the business and retired in 1983. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2271. He was also a member of Eagles Lodge No. 1927 in Fairfield, and was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonary of Davenport.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda McGINNIS of Glendale, Calif., and Barbara BROWN of Hunting Beach, Calif.; a son, James of Lake Bluff, Ill.; a brother, Wayne ORNDUFF of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Letha GONTERMAN; and two brothers, Kenneth and Floyd.
