Jefferson County Republican, Feb.15, 1898, p.4,col.5. OBITUARY. Died, on Jan.29, 1898 at her late residence, Mrs. Rachel F. Lyon, widow of Rev. F.F. Lyon, in the 73rd year of her age. Rachel Harris was born on July 15, 1825 in KY and removed from that state to IL, when an infant, with her father, Samuel Harris, from there to IA when she was 11 years of age. Was united to F.F. Lyon in 1839 (1838). To this union were born 13 children, seven sons and six daughters,all of whom survive her, except one daughter, Mrs. Jane Embree. M.E. church.
