Jacob KIRK, born Jan. 1, 1869 at Rome, Iowa, one of nine children of Joseph and Rhoda (PECK) KIRK. April 21, 1896 married Louisa Lena (sic - Louisa L. WEENIKE) in Fairfield, Iowa. Had he lived three days longer he and his wife would have celebrated their sixieth wedding anniversary. Nine children, five of whom preceded him in death. Surviving are four daughters; Minnie Mae TRABERT of Lockridge, Iowa; Gladys Elsie HILLMAN of Fairfield; Florence Nellie DEWALT of Burlington, and Dorothy Katherine SMITH of Mt. Pleasant, eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Eight brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Fifty years of his life were spent in farming around Lockridge, Iowa..... Interment at Lockridge Cemetery.
